A Manifesto For Mums and Kids

There are a lot of things I wish I had known as a new mother of a non-sleeping colic ridden, refluxy babe and I have discovered one thing that I wish I had had during those long nights of being up hourly.

A Manifesto For Mums is a beautiful print from Kelly Exeter of The Smile Collective which simply and gently reminds Mums that they’re doing okay.

I can’t tell you how many times I have come to our hall stand to read the words and soak in the message. This time of the year seems to be particularly chaotic and I need the affirmation that this Manifesto gives me.It sits with photographs of my children, reminding me why these words mean so much.

The Smile Collective, A Manifesto for Mums Review, Perfect New Mum Gift, Positivity for New Mums, Positivity for Mums

Taking the time to go and read the words gives me a moment to breath and refocus.

I unequivocally recommend this for mums. New mums, mums-to-be, mums about to have number 2, 3 or 4.

It’s the words, the simply gorgeous design and the knowledge that you’re not alone. Others have been there, Kelly has been there and has shared this wisdom with us. Knowing that, while I feel like I am the only person to have ever lived through the craziness which is a four year old’s tantrum, other mothers have been here and survived with their sanity gives me hope. And strength.

Play,

A Manifesto For Kids is a fun poster which perfectly encompasses how I want my children to live and grow.

I believe strongly in children playing to learn, playing to live and Kelly’s words capture that.

I have this on my desk and hope that it will go in a playroom, hanging in a gorgeous frame.

It makes me smile as my children do these things and I catch a glimpse of the Manifesto, for now they are young and they do these things and it’s more a reminder to me to say yes more than no. Which I think is so important, but it’s so easy to get caught up in the “It makes mess” frame of mind, especially now that we’re renting.

I am able to remember more often now that what’s important is them having a childhood and when they’re older and can read it themselves I know it will remind them that life as a child is all about exploring.

If you’re looking for positive words and affirmations to fill your home then these are perfect and if you’re in love with these and have to buy them now, Kelly has offered 15% off all purchases in the Smile Shop to BeckyandJames readers until 31 January 2012.

To get the 15% off pop the code BANDJ15 in right at the VERY end of checkout (even after you do the PayPal part).
